Tasting Notes

Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 01
Saturated ruby-purple. Superripe aromas of blackberry liqueur, crushed blueberry, bitter chocolate, animal fur and pepper, along with a leafy, vegetal suggestion of very young syrah. Huge but rather monolithic, even austere. Today the tannins come across as rather tough. This is showing little today beyond its spectacular aromas, but it is hard to believe that it won't ultimately match the Chaillot.

Cornas Vineyard Fine Wine

Cornas

Cornas, a prestigious Northern Rhône appellation, is famous for bold, robust Syrah wines. Grown on steep, sun-drenched slopes, these wines are known for their intensity and depth, featuring flavours of dark berries, black pepper, smoked meat, and earthy notes, with strong tannins and excellent ageing potential. Cornas focuses exclusively on 100% Syrah, with granite soils adding to its complexity. Top producers include Domaine Auguste Clape, Thierry Allemand, and Domaine Alain Voge, all celebrated for expressing Cornas's unique terroir.
